CMOS Circuit Scaling
19 October 1986
During the past six years (1979 to 1985) CMOS Technology has emerged as the technology of choice for VLSI. Most significant application implementations are: speech processing, digital signal processing, RAMs, microprocessors, gate arrays, EPROMs, CODECS, switched capacitor filters, D/A and A/D converters.
The driving forces behind this development are the inherent low-power characterisitcs of CMOS circuits, and the improvements in speed performance, silicon-area, and processing cost due to innovations in CMOS circuit design and processing technologies.
