The construction of coin-collectors, their operating features and the requirements and limits of different types in general use in the United States are discussed. The plan of operation and construction of postpayment collectors are dealt with, and the operation of prepayment collectors on toll and party lines described. The construction of various types of prepayment collectors are detailed, as well as the possible sources of current supply. Equipment should be as nearly fool and burglar proof as possible, and collectors of both the postpayment and prepayment type should not be installed in the same district.
