This talk will cover the problems of color image storage and transmission when the available processing power comes basically from a Personal Computer plus various specialized plug-in boards. Mentioned prominently will be the AT&T Truevision products and the WE DSP- 32 digital signal processor. The AT&T EPIC organization will be exhibiting their products at this conference. Comparisons will be made between the very traditional Discrete Cosine Transform methods of image compression and some newer proprietary algorithms especially tailored for the rather limited processing power of PC's and the specialized architecture of the WE DSP-32. We do not plan to divulge the proprietary algorithms itself although a patent on it has been filed.
