Configurations for beyond-the-horizon diversity systems
14 June 1956
The use of dual-polarization in these systems has introduced many hitherto unused configurations which are set forth in the form of symbols to denote the various combinations of certain elements of a diversity system. The corresponding numerical designations are also given. The system of classification is based on: (1) the number of polarizations used for each frequency; (2) the number of receiving aerials; and (3) the number of frequencies used. The four basic arrangements and configurations, together with their combination into 26 different types, are shown. Examples of some of the configurations of the basic forms are discussed briefly.
