Considerations on Operations Planning for new Global Telecommunications Services
This paper discusses Operations, Administration and Maintenance (OA&M) planning for new global telecommunications services. The technology progress in communications, computing and transportations is erasing geographical boundaries of the world. Many of national corporations are expanding to become, or currently are, multinational. Their presence in foreign countries ranges from a few locations in one country to many locations all over the world. As these companies are becoming global, their communications and information movement and management requirements are becoming global. In order to meet these requirements AT&T is involved in various efforts with other international carriers to design new global services. These new services cover the whole spectrum of offerings, ranging from private line services to complex networks including switched services. Focus is not only on the service architecture and interworking, but also on all aspects of operations planning to ensure service quality and manageability.
