Crystal field splitting of core levels in beta-Sn.
01 January 1989
Photoemission spectra of the 4d level of metallic tin, taken with 90 meV resolution exhibit crystal field splittings of the j=3/2 and 5/2 spin-orbit components amounting to 115 and 146 meV, respectively. The room temperature phonon broadening is of the order of 50 meV, in good agreement with a recent theoretical estimate.
