D 2.1 - Requirements and concepts for the analogue HW in 5G mobile systems
This document is a report of the European project Flex5Gware. The contributions of Alcatel-Lucent are included in the sections 2.1.1, 2.2, 3.1, and 3.3. They are no further authors involved in this contribution. Executive summary: This document comprises an analysis of requirements and envisaged concepts for RF front-ends and antennas designated for network elements and user equipment in 5G mobile systems. Key performance parameters have been identified for several functional blocks to be considered for the definition of strategies, concepts, and solutions supporting the design of key building blocks for the analogue hardware, which show significant progression compared to state-of-the-art and a significant step towards 5G mobile applications. Concepts and solutions envisaged for detailed evaluation during the project are defined and the supported use cases, elaborated in work package 1 (5G Architecture requirements, specifications, and use cases), are indicated. The hardware concepts build on expanded RF front-end solutions for substantial extension of operation bandwidth below 6 GHz, and on exploiting new radio bands expected for mobile operation between 6 and 100 GHz. The envisaged usage of significantly increased aggregated operation bandwidth shall be exploited by several solutions expanding the performance on throughput, user data rate, power consumption and costs for the purpose of 5G mobile systems.
