Data rate and channel spacing flexible wavelength blocking filter

: We present an optical Add/Drop Multiplexer based on a high- resolution blocking filter, which seamlessly supports data rates from 2.5Gbit/s to 160Gbit/s. A spectral resolution of 13.2GHz was obtained in the blocking filter that consisted of a linear array of 64 single tilt axis MEMS micromirrors and a high-dispersion echelle grating. 

The transmission and crosstalk penalties were measured for multiple data rates and formats ranging from 2.5Gbit/s to 160Gbit/s, and a maximal penalty <1 dB for 40Gbit/s NRZ modulation was observed.
