DCH Allocation Algorithms with delay consideration for UMTS Networks
01 January 2005
Dynamic DCH allocation algorithms are required to share the limited number of DCH's among a large number of contending users. Several algorithms, including an adaptive algorithm that uses rate and queue length measurements, for the dynamic sharing of DCH's were discussed in [1]. The adaptive algorithm was shown to provide good performance and has a simple implementation. However, the choice of parameters for the adaptive algorithm outlined in [1] is not suitable for a network with random backhaul delay. In this memo we present a new method for choosing adaptive algorithm parameters when the backhaul network has random delay. We also present simulation results based on this new parameter choice. The results indicate that the adaptive algorithm with the new parameter choice is more robust to random network delay.
