Decoupling antenna height and tilt adaptation in large cellular networks
06 November 2011
The Utility of cellular networks can be substantially improved by using an efficient combination of antenna tilt and height. This paper investigates the effect of the antenna height on adapting the tilt angle of a large cellular network. Based on a practical self-optimization heuristic and on LTE assumptions, our simulation results show that the factors antenna height and vertical tilt angle do not interact. This indicates that both factors can be independently adapted, which is a significant practical benefit for optimizing the Utility of large cellular networks.
