Design Automation: Accelerators Speed Logic and Fault Simulation
Give me a place to stand and I will more the earth, said Archimedes to illustrate how his new invention, the lever, could amplify human strength. In the case of design automation, an electronic computer is the platform (the place to stand) and the programmed algorithm is the tool (the lever) that amplifies the human capability to design complex systems, faster. What is more fascinating is that design automation is often used to build more powerful computers that help research more capable algorithms. These activities provide a positive feedback to the technological evolution.
