Design of a broadband WR-to-CPWG millimeter-wave transition

A rectangular waveguide-to-coplanar waveguide (WR-to-CPWG) transition is proposed. This original structure cascades two low-loss transitions: a ridged waveguide-to-microstrip line transition and a membrane-supported microstrip line-to-CPWG tapered transition. Electromagnetic simulations indicate that the insertion loss in the Ka-band is less than 0.5 dB in a 2.5-GHz bandwidth. (C) 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
