Designing a Customizable Transmission Network Management System

This paper describes an approach to the design of a transmission network management system which provides flexibility for adding or modifying user functionality. Such a system provides a core set of features together with a set of software tools that enable the package to be tailored according to the users environment. A specific transmission network management system will be used as and example of a customizable system. This paper discusses those functions of a transmission network management system for which customization is desired and a design concept for producing customized features to coexist with the basic system.
