Designing Cost-Effective UTRAN Transport

Because of the significant investment network operators recently made to acquire UMTS licenses, they are especially motivated to plan and design their UMTS networks using investment decision strategies that minimize capital and operational costs. In this paper we focus on a particular area where the UMTS operator can realize significant cost savings, namely the design of the UTRAN transport infrastructure.
