Detection of Bursty Error Conditions Through Analysis of Performance Information

New Image

Digital networks exhibit several error conditions that can impact service. Random error analysis forms the basis of most digital network maintenance and action limits. However, bursty conditions, where high error rates occur for short durations, can severely impact service. It is important that such bursty conditions be detected and corrected quickly to provide quality digital networks. The paper describes an algorithm for in-service performance information, based on the errored frame, to detect bursty error conditions.
