Development of broadcasting in Japan
01 October 1929
A description of the recent increase in broadcasting in Japan. During 1928 six new stations were opened each being rated at 10-kW unmodulated antenna power. The transmitters employ low-power modulation with master oscillator control. The stations operate on wave-lengths between 360 and 380 m. and are situated near the following towns: Sapporo, Sendai, Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Hiroshima and Kumamoto. The studio is in the town in each case, the transmitter being some five or six kilometres away. All important equipment is in duplicate, and the buildings are designed to be fire-resisting, and safe against earthquake. Space has been left in each case for possible future expansion.
