Digital Access and Cross-Connect System II Architecture
The AT&T Digital Access and Cross-Connect System II (DACS II) is a new system that provides cross-connection, test access and digital signal processing functions for DS0 signals. Other key functions include facility and equipment maintenance with remote operations support. This is a second generation DACS that uses a large non-blocking single-stage switch matrix and software control to reassign, process, and distribute up to 15,360 individual DSO channels in up to 640 T1 lines. In addition, any of the 640 DS1 ports can be reserved to provide digital test access for up to 12 DS0 channels at a time.
