Digital Microwave Radio
01 January 1989
The earliest digital transmission over microwave radio was carried out by applying a digital baseband signal to an FM deviator and demodulating with a discriminator after transmission over a radio system which had been designed for FDM- or Video-FM[1]. Subsequent digital radio realizations veered away from analog FM techniques and employed RF PSK modulators and coherent demodulation[2,3]. In more recent years, a closer resemblance to analog microwave radio has returned.
