The advantages of digital transmission of original analogue values are considered and reasons given for the choice of a binary system with error detection. Indication and recording of data by digital and analogue devices are discussed. Details are given of a transmission system including address and measurement coder, parallel to series converter and are illustrated by block diagram and pulse train. The use is discussed of automatic programmed routine testing and plug-in printed circuit units to facilitate maintenance. Mechanical features are illustrated by photographs. Applications of the system to telemetering of a 48 aerial radio telescope array and to a water pumping station are discussed.
