Digitizing the AT&T Communications Network

Lightwave, digital radio and satellite systems offer alternative means of providing digital connectivity for a variety of telecommunication services. This paper outlines the historical development of the AT&T-C digital network using these technologies, summarizes the major applications of each through the end of the decade, and outlined future digital technology from an AT&T perspective.
