Director-An Interpreter for Rule-Based Programs.

This paper discusses the design and implementation of Director, an interpreter for rule-based expert systems. Based on an efficient combination of backward chaining and forward chaining inference mechanisms, Director is designed to support systems that have natural language interfaces, or need to minimize their input/output requirements.
