Dissertation Abstract: Adaptive Optimization in a Database Programming Language

A current focus of database research in the design of higher level programming languages to support advanced database applications such as computer-aided design, automated manufacturing, and software engineering information systems. My dissertation research concerns the efficient implementation of a new deductive database language called Glue. I have designed and implemented a single-user database engine called IGlue that interprets Glue programs and manages relations in main memory.
