Distributed Fiber Sensing: What can be learnt from Coherent Transmission Technology?

We show that coherent technology developed in the past decade for transmission over core optical networks can benefit to Distributed Fiber Sensing technology in various fields as sensitivity, distance to sense, coexistence with data traffic.
