Doping and Recognition of Information Signals: Speech, Image and Wideband Audio

Digital connectivity will become pervasive in a few years. Basic-rate ISDN (2x64k + 16k bits/sec.) will provide switched transmission capacity to support new communications modalities utilizing various combinations of voice, picture, audio, and data. These services will derive from understanding in digital coding and display of information and in human/machine communication the latter using techniques that match machine abilities to the human faculties of speech and hearing.
