Downloading Online Search Results Without a Microcomputer Using the UNIX(TM) System
01 January 1984
Downloading the output of online seaches has been widely discussed recently. Briefly, it is the capture of data from a remote system (in this case, the online search vendor) in machine-readable form rather than in hard copy. As with any process, there are tradeoffs[1]. Advantages of downloading include the ability to reformat the search results in a desired format, sort them, or add a heading to explain the search to the recipient or perhaps promote the search service.
