We show experimentally and theoretically that the recently observed novel exciton ring emission pattern in quantum well structures has an extremely long lifetime: it persists for hundreds of microseconds after the optical excitation source is removed, many orders of magnitude longer than the exciton recombination time. This provides a long lifetime reservoir of cold excitons even without external excitation.
