(Title was originally MPAT: Management Payload Address Translation (An SNMP Application Level Gateway)) Management Payload Address Translation MPAT is a feature by which IP addresses in the payload of SNMP packets are statically mapped from one group to another, transparent to management application. This is a specific case of Application Level Gateway, ALG, as described in RFC 1631 Section 5.5. When combined with NAT, this document describes a mechanism by which a single management device can manage multiple networks that use conflicting IP addresses.
