(Note: This is the second of three technical reports originally issued as document number 381411522-86-002 in the proprietary registered category. These three reports are being re-classified to AT&T proprietary and re-issued.) We studied the effects of 15 dopants on the dielectric properties of newly discovered Pb sub (1-x-y) Mg sub x Nb sub (2y) O sub (1+4y) perovskite systems.

The dopants are Ba, Ag, La, Bi and Nd, which substitute in the Pb sublattice, and Co, Ni, Zn, Mn, Cr, Dy, Al, Fe, Zr and Ti, which substitute in the sublattice occupied by Mg and Nb. While the dielectric constants of Pb sub (1-x-y) Mg sub x Nb sub (2y) O sub (1+4y) were little affected by Al, Zr, and Ni dopants, their dielectric constants were increased by Ti dopant and decreased by other dopants.

The rates of change in the Curie temperatures of Pb sub (1-x-y) Mg sub x Nb sub (2y) O sub (1+4y) due to a known concentration of these dopants were quantitatively measured.
