Electrical Properties of YBa sub 2 Cu sub 3 O sub 7 and Bi sub 2 Sr sub 2 CaCu sub 2 O sub 4 Superconductors

Work on the electrical properties of thin-film, bulk ceramic and single-crystal YBa sub 2 Cu sub 3 O sub 7 and Bi sub 2 Sr sub 2 Ca sub 1 Cu sub 2 O sub 8 superconductors in the normal state above T sub c and in the superconducting state below T sub c will be reviewed.[1] Metallic conduction is restricted to the a-b basal plane of the layered cuprate superconductors. The bismuth superconductor is close to the two-dimensional limit, although structural defects appear to short circuit the CuO sub 2 planes and give anomalous c-axis measurements.
