Electrical response of superconducting YBa sub 2 Cu sub 3 O sub (7-delta) to light.

We have studied the effect of visible and near-infrared light on the electrical properties of superconducting thin films of YBa sub 2 Cu sub 3 O sub (7-delta). The responses we observe can all be explained in terms of light heating the film above the superconducting transition temperature. No evidence that the light directly affects superconductivity was found.
