Concern about electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) is a new issue for most telephone engineers. Broadband communications mean that there is an increased possibility of broadband interference and susceptibility. New United States and international standards that apply to digital and/or information technology equipment are also being applied to telephone equipment in many applications.
