Electrostatic Discharge Sensitivity Testing of Integrated Circuits

The sensitivity of integrated circuits to electrostatic discharge is determined using two models: the Human-Body Model (HBM) and Charged-Device Model (CDM). Considerable progress has been made towards an industry standard for the HBM, although some critical issues remain. With the increasing use of surface-mounted components and high-throughput assembly techniques, the CDM is becoming more significant.
