The Quantitative Literacy Project is a current effort of the Joint Committee of ASA and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics to expand and improve the teaching of precollege statistics. The project includes extensive teacher training workshops and the publication of four books that introduce the basics of statistics and probability to junior and senior high school students. These books treat data analysis; empirical probability; simulation; and, within the context of sample surveys, the elements of statistical inference.
