Intelligent Network Solutions for Telecommunications Networks
01 January 1988
This paper describes how AT&T's Intelligent Network (IN) concept can be effectively applied to meet the evolving needs of telecommunications networks in different countries around the world. The telecommunications network is typically a public network (i.e., owned by the telecom administration/network provider/PTT), with a mix of both analog and digital switching and transmission facilities, which is evolving towards increased digitalization with common channel signaling facilities. AT&T's IN offers the PTT an excellent capability to introduce new network services that meet the evolving customer and market needs, at the same time, providing new sources of revenue to the PTT.
