A survey of miniature assemblies of semiconductor devices including matched tunnel diode pairs, and decade scalers using ten tunnel diodes with graded peak currents. Reference is also made to "Miniflake" trasistors in which the encapsulated element is mounted on a flat contact-carrying plate suitable for superimposition on thin film passive circuits using sputtered tantalum or evaporated NiCr on glass or ceramic substrates. Reference is made to the fabrication of transistor- diode gates and Darlington amplifiers by the diffusion of Si through oxide masks on Si substrates, the substrate being isolated, if required, by initial deep diffusions of opposite conductivity type material. The characteristics of such circuits are compared with those of passive thin film circuits for digital and linear applications.
