Kunibiki Messe - Matsue, Shimane, Japan

We’re thrilled to be part of JANOG56, Japan’s leading network operator event, where industry professionals gather to explore the future of networking, automation, and security. Nokia will be there to share our latest innovations and insights in containerized labs, transport encryption, and quantum-safe networking.

Come visit our booth and attend our technical sessions at Kunibiki Messe in Matsue!

Nokia Technical Sessions

Session 1: "Containerlab: Turning Network Engineers’ Everyday Wishes into Reality"

  • Date: Wednesday, July 30, 2025
    Time: 14:45 - 15:30, International Conference Hall / 3F
Speaker: Satoshi Ogawa, Senior Solutions Architect, Nokia Solutions & Networks Japan G.K.
  • Session Overview: This session explores how Containerlab and its evolving ecosystem have made network engineers’ long-held wishes for flexible lab environments a reality. We’ll introduce the latest features of Containerlab and its integrated tools, showcasing expanded use cases—from quick checks to solving complex verification challenges faced by engineers.
  • Practical tips and real-world examples will be shared to help attendees immediately benefit from virtual lab setups. The session also targets junior engineers and students frustrated by limited access to commercial networks, presenting affordable and hands-on methods to build virtual labs.

Session 2: "Is Transport Security Necessary for Private Networks? Achieving Flexible Encryption through IEEE 802.1AE MACSec Extensions"

  • Date: Friday, August 1, 2025
    Time: 10:15 - 11:00, International Conference Hall / 3F
Speaker: Yasuo Kashimura, Head of IP Business Center Japan, Nokia Solutions and Networks Japan G.K.
  • Session Overview: While MACSec technology is broadly supported across many devices, its adoption in live networks remains limited. In this session, we will revisit the fundamentals of MACSec, explore the challenges behind its slow deployment, and introduce the latest efforts to extend MACSec for overlay networking applications.
  • We will also discuss emerging use cases of quantum-resistant encryption at the transport layer, drawing from early deployments by select service providers. This session aims to provide a comprehensive view of the current state and future potential of transport layer security, highlighting its growing importance in modern network infrastructures.
