Nokia, Digita and CoreGo revolutionize live sporting events with next-generation streaming

Imagine experiencing a major sporting event from the heart of the action, in stunning 8K 360° detail. This isn't science fiction. It's the reality being created through a groundbreaking collaboration between Nokia, digital infrastructure and services provider Digita and CoreGo, a payment and access control solutions company.
Recently, at a major international motor sporting event, these companies showcased a revolutionary live-streaming solution. Using a dedicated Nokia 5G private wireless network and Nokia Real-time eXtended Reality Multimedia (RXRM) solution, the companies delivered ultra-realistic 8K 360° video and immersive 3D audio in real-time. This offered spectators an unprecedented level of immersion.
A strategically placed Nokia 5G 360 Camera captured every angle of the action. Streamed through Nokia RXRM, the on-site attendees wearing VR headsets could experience the event as if they were right in the middle of the racetrack. Large screens also provided a captivating viewing experience for the broader audience.
This personalized approach significantly enhances event participation and engagement both on-site and remotely. The potential applications extend to various large-scale events, including championship sports matches, concerts, and festivals.
“This collaboration is a great example of a testing ground for totally new future technology,” said motor sporting event organizer AKK Sports’ CFO Markus Häkkinen. “We’re very excited about this possibility to offer new experiences for our guests and spectators.”
More than just a livestream: An immersive experience
At the heart of this innovation is the RXRM solution, which dramatically enhances event participation through personalized experiences. What makes this particularly impressive is the efficiency of the RXRM multimedia solution, which provides near-zero latency while reducing bandwidth usage by up to 90%. This breakthrough makes it ideal for live event production and broadcasting, ensuring smooth, high-quality streaming even in challenging environments.
By combining ultra-high-resolution video with ultra-fast Nokia 5G private wireless connectivity, the solution unlocks innovative entertainment experiences while opening new business opportunities and improving event safety and audience engagement.
“High-capacity connectivity is essential for delivering this unique and innovative experience. This demonstration clearly highlights how advanced connectivity solutions enrich major events,” said Pekka Koskinen, Digita’s Sales Director of Private Network Solutions.
Innovation through collaboration
The successful deployment demonstrates how advanced connectivity solutions can elevate major events, offering audiences new ways to experience live action. This collaboration showcases the practical applications of Nokia 5G private wireless networks beyond traditional use cases, pointing toward a future where immersive, personalized experiences become the norm rather than the exception in live event broadcasting. Nokia, Digita and CoreGo envision other possible opportunities to bring this solution to large-scale events.
“These are entirely new 5G private network use cases that expand beyond typical applications, such as ticketing or payment systems,” added CoreGo CEO and founder Hannu Elomaa.
Indeed, the future of live events is here. It is powered by 5G and it opens exciting new opportunities for both event organizers and viewers alike.
