His leadership has been pivotal in network planning, design, and the management of large-scale core and metro networks. Daniel has held several leadership roles, including Senior Director and Principal Network Engineer, contributing to the growth of Charter’s infrastructure.

Tom Bresee

Tom Bresee is a Member of Technical Staff at T-Mobile USA.  Tom has 20+ years of telecommunications experience in network architectures and designs spanning optical, ethernet, IP/MPLS, and mobile transport.  He is lead engineer for the mobile backhaul architectures at T-Mobile.  He holds a bachelors degree in Applied Physics, and masters degree in Engineering Management, as well as Electrical Engineering (Wireless Systems concentration).  He is currently working on a masters in Applied Data Science from the University of Michigan in his free time.  He hopes to be the first engineer ever to be sponsored by Jimmy Johns, and is based in Frisco, TX, USA.

Aaron Werley

Aaron Werley is Zayo’s SVP of Engineering, based out of Boulder, CO.  He oversees the technical organizations developing and supporting Zayo’s network infrastructure and service delivery functions.  In this role, he is responsible for the architecture, network planning, engineering, and capacity management across Zayo’s global network.  Originally joining Zayo through the acquisition of PPL Telcom, Aaron has helped care for Zayo’s network and systems through 45+ acquisitions over the last 17 years. He has extensive experience engineering and operating service provider networks utilizing Fiber, Ethernet, IP, and WDM technologies and holds multiple related patents.  Aaron received his B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science, graduating Magna Cum Laude, from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.  He currently resides in Erie, CO with his wife and three daughters.

Luca, after a Bachelor’s degree in Micro-Electronics engineering from the Politecnico University of Milano in 1997, moved into the telecommunications industry, where he has more than 20 years’ experience.  Since January 2022 he takes a new role inside the broader Nokia Optics community, as responsible for managing NFM-T Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) team, a Network Management System platform that is the core of the Optical Network.  Till 2021 he had a PLM role in ION Service BU covering the Optical segment, with a focus on Automation, System Integration, Operational Enablement Solutions and Network Transformation area. In this role Luca was responsible for identifying consumer needs, developing and promoting specific Professional Services to improve customer experience on Nokia Optics network performances and indorsing the ION Professional Service portfolio internally and externally. With this position he developed a deep knowledge on the Nokia Optics product catalogue and related Network Management applications.  Previously he was covering for 5 years a Product Management Role inside the Alcatel-Lucent Network Release Strategy Organization, following the homologation of specific Optics Mobile backhauling solutions.

Martin Charbonneau

Martin Charbonneau is currently the Head of the Emerging Product Unit for the Optical Networking Business Unit of Nokia.  In this role, he is responsible for driving Optical Networking business in new and emerging segments such as Mobile Transport convergence, Cloud/edge and access transport, including new software and practices to address Software Defined Networking, and Open Networking deployments.  Prior to this assignment, Martin was leading portfolio product management activities for the 1830 Photonic Service Switch in Metro network applications (Packet and OTN solutions), and complementary Metro product lines of the portfolio, such as 1830 Versatile WDM Module (Nokia’s Mobile Front Haul solution).  He has been with Nokia for 10 years where he has also worked as a Product Line Manager for the Fixed Access product. Prior to joining Nokia, Martin held various roles of increasing responsibility in Product Line Management, Business and Network Planning and Professional Services for Metro Ethernet & Optical Transport Business units.  Martin received a Bachelor of Science in Space Sciences from the Canadian Royal Military College (RMC, St-Jean) and graduated as a commissioned officer in the Canadian Forces.

Tim was also a Principal Analyst at ACG Research. Tim is a frequentspeaker at industry conferences and has authored numerous articles. He holds an MBA from Webster University, an M.S. in electrical engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, and a B.S. in electrical engineering from Southern Illinois University. David Heard is President of the Network Infrastructure (NI) business group at Nokia.  Based in Dallas, David was the Nokia NI Chief Strategic Growth Officer and joined Nokia with the acquisition of Infinera in February 2025. He was previously CEO of Infinera and, prior to that, held the role of Infinera’s Chief Operating Officer, responsible for leading the innovation of new optical networking solutions and the overall operational excellence of the company. Before joining Infinera, David held senior positions across various technology companies in the U.S. including JDSU, BigBand Networks, Somera Communications, Lucent and AT&T gaining comprehensive experience of the telecoms industry and demonstrating a strong growth mindset and a commitment to innovation leadership.  David holds a B.A. in Production and Operations Management from Ohio State University, an MBA from the University of Dayton and an M.S. in Management from Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was a Sloan Fellow. Before joining Infinera, Mr. Johnson built his exceptionally deep optical and IP networking experience and expertise over 20+ years at Cisco, where he held the position of Head of Product Management for the Optical Transport Business Unit. He began his career in network engineering at SBC Communications, now AT&T.  Mr. Johnson studied electrical engineering at California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo.

Vach Kompella

President and General Manager, IP Networks Division

Vach is SVP and GM of the IP Networks Division (IPN) in the Network Infrastructure Business Group at Nokia. IPN consists of 6 business units: Service Router, Network Automation, Data Center, Nuage Networks, Packet Core and Deepfield. He started with Timetra Networks in 2001, leading the development of MPLS and related technologies, and arrived at Nokia through a series of M&A activity. In 2008, he started the Mobile Gateways program in the IP Division, and was Vice President of Engineering for the Mobile Packet Core. Vach has been a speaker at many conferences, and a regular contributor to standards in the IETF. He was co-chair of the l2vpn Working Group at the IETF for five years. Vach was awarded a Bell Labs Fellowship in 2009 for his contributions to MPLS and VPLS. Prior to Nokia, Vach held positions at IBM, working in network security and IP protocols. Vach holds a PhD in CS from the University of California, San Diego, and obtained his BTech in CS from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.

Fady Masoud is a Senior Director for Solutions Marketing at Nokia focusing on next-generation Intelligent Coherent Pluggable optics (ICE-X) and cloud /data center interconnect solutions. His area of expertise is the architecture and requirements of next-generation optical networking infrastructure. During his 30 years in the telecommunications industry, Fady has held various positions in the optical networking domain at Nortel, Ciena, Infinera, and now Nokia. He started as a hardware test engineer on the first OC-192 (10 Gb/s) systems and then was a systems and network engineer on metropolitan optical products, all combined with hands-on experience. Fady holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Laval University (Quebec City, Canada) and a master’s degree in systems technology (software simulation of optical networks) from the Superior School of Technology (Montreal, Canada). He has written numerous industry and technical publications (incl IEEE), including a book, on next-generation optical networking, cloud networking, and data center interconnect, as well as on many other key topics.
