Biography

Bharath Shamasundar is a Research Engineer in the Radio Systems Research team at Nokia Bell Labs in Bangalore, India. His research interests span wireless communications, information theory, signal processing, and machine learning.

Before joining Bell Labs in 2025, Bharath was a Chief Engineer in 6G Research at Samsung Research India – Bangalore, from 2023 to 2025. His work included AI-assisted transceiver algorithms, integrated sensing and communication, fronthaul-overhead reduction for O-RAN systems, and advanced MIMO detection for 6G systems.  Previously, Bharath was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at The University of Texas at Dallas, United States, in 2021 and 2022, where he worked on information-theoretic aspects of reconfigurable intelligent surfaces and index modulation techniques.

Bharath received his M.Sc. (Engineering) and Ph.D. from the Department of Electrical Communication Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, in 2020, and his Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Siddaganga Institute of Technology, Tumkur, in 2014. He has authored numerous journal and conference publications, and is an inventor of several patents.
