Biography
Swati Bhattacharya is a Research Engineer in the Radio Systems Research group at Nokia Bell Labs, where she develops AI-driven receiver algorithms for next-generation wireless communication systems. Her work focuses on applying machine learning to physical-layer signal processing, particularly for symbol detection and LDPC decoding, with the objective of improving receiver reliability, efficiency, and adaptability in evolving wireless environments. She is particularly interested in integrating communication-theoretic insights with data-driven methods to design practical and interpretable AI-native receiver architectures.
Swati received her Ph.D. in Electrical Communication Engineering from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, in 2025, where she developed compact neural network architectures that leverage domain knowledge for channel estimation and symbol detection, and investigated parameter estimation from heavily quantized measurements. She earned her M.Tech. from NIT Rourkela in 2018 and B.Tech. from IIEST Shibpur in 2016. Between her Master's and Ph.D., she worked at Qualcomm (Hyderabad) for 6 months on RF testing and validation of integrated platforms used for evaluating Snapdragon chipsets.
Her research interests span wireless communications, signal processing, machine learning for communication systems, and intelligent receiver design for future cellular networks.
