ARM: A Distributed Optimal Solution for Joint Scheduling, Discrete Power Control and Modulation-Coding Adaptation
25 May 2015
To meet with the demand of wireless data explosion, wireless networks now are rapidly evolving to include more and more small cells. This trend exacerbates the interference of wireless links, a fundamental problem in wireless networks. In this paper, we tackle the interference management problem by proposing an innovative approach--ARM (Anonymous Rating Mechanism). Inspired by the successes of the simple Anonymous Rating Mechanism in Internet and E-commerce, we develop ARM as distributed optimal solution for general power control problem ((i.e., the joint scheduling, power control, and modulation coding adaption problem) for practical systems with discrete power levels and limited number of MSCs (Modulation Coding Schemes). Enabled by the advanced stochastic combinatorial optimization computing, ARM achieves high data rate with extremely low control and computational overheads. We conduct comprehensive simulations for ARM under different network scenarios. The simulation results validate our design.
