Basic Long Distance Service Signaling Model
30 November 1988
This talk describes AT&T basic long distance voice service and how a typical interLATA call is handled. The roles and interactions of customer premises equipment, switches, signaling, the local access networks, and the AT&T switched network are described. Next, basic signaling concepts are presented networks, and the AT&T switched network are described.
Next, basic signaling concepts are presented, including Dual Tone Multifrequency (DTMF), Dial Pulse (DP), Multifrequency (MF), and Common Channel Signaling (CCS). Then the signaling associated with the equal access signaling protocol is described in the context of an end-to-end connection model. The signaling information presented in this talk is contained in 'Notes on the BOC Intra-LATA Networks- 1986'.
