Block-Filtered Multi-carrier Technique for Wireless Systems Beyond LTE
21 November 2012
In this paper, we propose a novel multi-carrier transmission scheme as an alternative approach to orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) in order to mitigate intercarrier interference (ICI). In the proposed scheme called block-filtered multi-carrier (BFMC), a filtering operation applied to a group of consecutive subcarriers in order to reduce the effect of sidelobe interference on the immediate adjacent subchannels and thereby eliminate ICI . Moreover, we consider the uplink of coordinated multipoint (CoMP) schemes, where a number of adjacent base stations (BSs) sends the received signals from all user equipments (UEs) to a CoMP central unit (CCU) to jointly process and reduce inter-cell interference. Furthermore, we investigate the impact of carrier frequency offset (CFO) on the performance of the proposed system and compare the results with the performance of cyclic prefix based orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system.
