Rare Earth Silicate Glasses

Alkali Silicate and Alumino-Silicate glasses which contain up to 15 mol% Rare Earth oxide (Ln sub 2 O sub 3) have been prepared by bulk melting techniques. The effect of the Rare Earth oxide additions on the structure and both the optical and physical properties of the glasses will be discussed.
