Transmission of Hydromagnetic Energy into the Magnetosphere at Cusp Latitudes

New Image

The dependence of hydromagnetic energy in the band 20-50 mHz on the strength of the interplanetary magnetic field B sub T has been studied at two near-conjugate stations in the magnetospheric cusp region. This has been done to examine the global nature of the relationship reported by Slawinski et al. (1988) using one ground station and to compare the obtained relationship at high latitudes with that reported by Gul;elmi (1974) and colleagues from a midlatitude station. Specific, non-visual selection criteria which are based on signal spectral characteristics are imposed on the event selections.
