Nokia set to continue its work with OSSii group as 5G gets underway

Nokia today announced that it has reached a tentative understanding with Ericsson and Huawei to continue its work in the Operations Support Systems interoperability initiative (OSSii).

This initiative, which started in 2013 and is renewed every three years, simplifies interoperability between vendors and third party OSS systems; thereby, lowering OSS integration costs and enabling shorter time-to-market.

This is particularly important with 5G deployments now getting well underway.

A final agreement on the OSSii initiative is expected later this year after details are hammered out.

The parties’ general guiding principles for the OSS Interoperability Initiative are openness, fairness, reasonableness and non-discriminatory treatment.
