On the air connectivity for connected cars

Leverage mobile networks radio technology for connected car services and advanced driver assistance systems

Connected cars can improve road safety, but they need ultra-low latency for communications. An LTE network and mobile edge computing can be used for vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communications.

LTE, as a globally deployed communication network technology - augmented with our Mobile Edge Computing Platform - is a viable and cost-efficient solution that would accelerate the adoption of V2V and V2I communications among road authorities and automakers.

Around the world, LTE mobile broadband networks provide the foundation for communication between people, and for infotainment. When enhanced with a network edge-based solution such as our Mobile Edge Computing Platform, you can enable those same communications capabilities and functions on the ITS G5 DSRC roadside unit. You can also enable Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities.

Our Mobile Edge Computing server can receive large quantities of Cooperative Awareness and Decentralized Environmental Notification Messages (DENM), and it can analyze and filter these events based on vehicles in the vicinity. Our Mobile Edge Computing solution also assures low latency - less than 20ms - for the delivery of critical hazard warnings. That low latency is available to you today - leading the way to 5G, to low latency communication solutions for connected cars, and ultimately to autonomous driving.
