Application of Acoustic Noise Synthesis Technique in the Design of a Duct System
This paper discusses the application of acoustic noise synthesis (ANS) for the design of a duct system, specifically a muffler system. ANS is based on well known principles of speech synthesis using source-filter model. The designer can use ANS technique to study the influence of design parameters of duct system on the perceptual quality of noise. This approach is useful in studies relating to perceptual loudness criteria and noise control.
