Automated Update Management for XML Integrity Constraints

A key problem in data management is the maintenance of integrity constraints as updates arrive. For complex constraints this is often done with handwritten code, but it is preferable to use code that is generated automatically from formally-defined integrity constraints. A problem in doing so, especially for applications in which data is stired as an XML document, is the lack of a powerful integrity constraint language for which incremental maintenance can be efficiently performed.
