The proposed talk for the Systems Engineering Talk Program will include a discussion of the conventional hierarchical networks, along with a review of the dynamic non-hierarchical routing techniques, and their advantages in the form of improved performance, increased network reliability, and substantial reduction in capital costs.

Network capacity design and routing schemes that are used in such networks will also be formulated and examined. The presentation will follow a generic approach and will mainly utilize the material extracted from a 1981 paper published in the Bell System Technical Journal.
